Just because Limp Bizkit - who didn't become big until the late 90s, not mid 90s - flopped in their recent comeback attempt doesn't mean everything from the decade would flop.Plenty of Woodstock 1994 acts who're still popular and/or legendary:RadioheadNINMetallicaAerosmithDylanPeter GabrielSheryl CrowCSNRed Hot Chili PeppersAllman Brothers BandGreen DaySantanaIt wasn't just a roster of 'the worst of the 90s'.Limp Bizkit DID play Woodstock 1999, and that year's roster has aged less well. I attended '94, '98 (aka 'A Day In The Garden) and '99.There is a '99 DVD release. I'd love to see stuff from the '94 and '98s one as they were a lot of fun. My tent at the '94 concert was about 50 yards or so from the portajohns, also nearby was the downhill path to the stage. This was the area that became a mudslide and people were having a blast sliding down there. After the 1st day it became appearent that the portajohns nearby were leaking into this mudslide. Noticing this my friend said loudly, 'If you slip here you're in a world of s#&t!'
Just then we heard a voice from faraway say, 'I'm in a world of s#&t.' I dont know what's up with the '98 footage. I saw all the camera's there filming.
But all that seems to have happened is the footage was bootlegged and you can watch tons of it on youtube. So many great acts at that one. Joni Mitchell, Lou Reed, Donovan, Stevie Nicks. I've got both 94 and 99 on VHS but only one VCR that is on it's last legs to watch them on. I liked 94 a lot more - at least they attempted to go for the same peace & love vibe (despite the blatant commercialism).
99's big mistake was to book a bunch of bands that exuded anything but peace and love. No surprise there were riots when you had bands singing songs like 'Break Stuff'.The 99 telecast might as well have been called Boobstock. The cameramen clearly had orders to capture as much nudity as possible. There might be issues related to that that keep it unreleased.I'd buy a DVD set of the 94 Woodstock.
